Cathay Industrial bags the championship

The powerhouse Cathay Industrial nailed the CHAMPIONSHIP of the 28th Chamber of Mines of the Philippines Annual Tenpin Bowling Tournament by beating FAG Bearing Center, 10 - 0.

Lepanto Mining settled as the First Runner Up. Philex Mining and Chamber of Mines/MGB got the Second and Third Runner Ups, respectively.

Lino Diamante, the team captain of Pansun Hardware, grabbed all the male records; while the ladies records are distributed to:
  • Highest Overall Average (162.83) - Emilyn Paragas - Team Captain of Philex Mining
  • High Single Scratch Game (212) - Soki Lee of FAG Bearing Center
  • High Single Game w/ Handicap (248) - Carie Silvano of Inter-Asia Marine
  • High Series Scratch (543) - Louie Cordero of PASAR
  • High Series w/ Handicap - Richael Cruz of NAMRIA
The team awardees are:
  • High Single Scratch (950) - Cathay Industrial

Cathay's lead widens

Week 17 - 28th Chamber of Mines of the Philippines Annual Bowling Tournament

Cathay won all their games against MHE. But, unluckily, Lepanto lost a game against Atlas. And, Cathay’s lead widened to a more comfortable level – from 3.227 to 5.556. At this point, the lead's as wide as 4 – 10 or 6 - 7 split.

Six teams bowled high games and earned bonus points:
  • Philex – 2 points
  • FAG – 2
  • BHP – 2
  • CoMP/MGB – 1
  • Civic – 1
  • UPD – 1
Mark Li and Christian Kho scored 231 and 247, respectively, as icings on their cakes as member of the Elite 225 Club.

Lepanto slashes Cathay's lead

Week 16 - 28th Chamber of Mines of the Philippines Annual Bowling Tournament

Lepanto got two bonus points; but, Cathay didn’t allow them to come much closer by scoring a bonus point. Thus, only 1.169 points was chopped from the lead. It’s now 3.227 points from 4.396 points. Albeit their bonus points, they both lost one game.

Philex is far third by 18.843 points behind Lepanto.

Philex and Chamber of Mines, the 4th placer, lost one game each too. However, Philex lead over Chamber of Mines increased by 0.053 point only. The gap is now 4.429 points.

What happened last Tuesday?

As expected, both Cathay and Lepanto won all their games against their opponents. But, Cathay scored more than Lepanto and increased its lead by 0.114 point. The margin is now 4.396 points. The third placer, Philex, also won three games. Thus, these teams maintained their respective places in the sun.

The formidable Pansun with Lino D. around pulled down FAG from 4th to 6th place and pulled itself up from 11th to 8th place. Pansun scored 998 and 1009 in the last two games, which earned them 3 bonus points. Luckily, Pansun's anchor blew the last frame of the first game and gave it to FAG with 2 pins difference only. Otherwise, FAG were in the 7th place.

Inter-Asia lost 2 games against Civic. The upset put the team down from 6th to 7th place.

Chamber of Mines/MGB won two games with a bonus point and leapt from 7th to 4th place.

Cathay & Lepanto maintain lead; Jer is in the club

Week 14 - 28th Chamber of Mines of the Philippines Annual Bowling Tournament

Cathay and Lepanto have proven that they are still the best two teams in the tournament.  Both teams crushed their opponents, Pansun and FAG, respectively, and maintained their places. With zero point gained, FAG slipped from 3rd to 4th place.  Philex scored 6-2 against Chamber of Mines/MGB and took the 3rd slot.

Jer Cabangon of Pansun Hardware made it to the elite 225 Club by scoring 230 in his second game.

Lino D snatches 2 records; Siniong joins the club

Week 13 - Chamber of Mines of the Philippines Annual Bowling Tournament

Lino Diamante of Pansun Hardware, after being absent for 4 consecutive weeks, scored 258 in his first game and snatched two records in the process, the High Single – Scratch and the High Single – with Handicap. What had he done in those four weeks? I guess it’s none of our business. Anyway, he now dominates all the five male records. More icings on the cake, his team was the only team that earned a bonus point and grasped the record for the High Team Series (Scratch) as well.

Sisinio Panilag of BHP Biliton joined the Elite 225 Club by scoring 226 in his first game. Also, 225 Club member Bobot Opena scored 225 in his first game too. He now has three games of 225 and over. Lino, with his 258, has four.

Cathay still in the driver's seat

Week 12 - Chamber of Mines of the Philippines Annual Bowling Tournament

The leader, Cathay Industrial, split the scores with SGV (5 – 5) in their match. It was high scoring games with both teams averaging more than 900 pins (934 and 930, respectively). SGV won the first and third games; while Cathay the second and the series. Both teams earned a bonus point each for scoring more than 950 in a game.

Lepanto demolished its opponent, Pansun, with only two bowlers present (9-0). However, Lepanto was not able to get back the lead but just slimmed it down to decimal 122 from 3.97 points.

FAG, who also routed its opponent – Filminera (9-0), improved its standing from fifth to third place. It dislodged Chamber of Mines / MGB and Philex Mining to fourth and sixth places, respectively. NAMRIA gave its opponent, Atlas, four eggs and took the fifth place.

Cathay Industrial seizes back the lead

Week 11 - Chamber of Mines of the Philippines Annual Bowling Tournament


The two leaders, Lepanto Mining and Cathay Industrial, incidentally faced each other and bowled on the same lanes last night. This encounter was a prelude to who would be the champion of this tournament.

Last week, Lepanto grabbed the lead from Cathay with a measly margin of 0.297 point only. Last night, Cathay was determined to seize it back with vengeance. It won the first two games. Lepanto, never to be cowed, managed to salvage the third game by two pins only.

Lepanto Mining grabs the lead

Week 10 - Chamber of Mines of the Philippines Annual Bowling Tournament


Lepanto Mining gave its opponent, Orica Explosives, a big Coke - not "The Right Thing" but the "Zero", last night, and grabbed the lead from Cathay Industrial. The two leaders are separated by just a hairline difference of 0.297 point only.

The third and fourth placers, Chamber of Mines / MGB and Philex Mining, respectively are trailing by more than 14 points.
